"K" Line (Europe) Limited established in 2003 a Marine
Expert Group, (MEG), with the remit to identify and report on safety and
environmental issues, and to have a common understanding and the necessary
action plans in place within the K-EURO Management Group. The group was
recently renamed as the Marine Consultancy Group (MCG) in February 2007.
MCG operates under the supervision of the K-EURO "Safety in Operations and
Environment Committee". MCG will act as the European window for all vessel
safety and environmental issues with "K" Line's head office in Tokyo and
the global network of offices. The primary work of the group is to prevent
accidents, and to be able to respond to an incident. The group is
responsible for a large area, which covers European waters and the
Atlantic sea area.
